Last Night in Tokyo

The last night in Tokyo was a highlight of my time in the JET Orientation. As an expat, it is fun to go to see your Embassy so it was quite a nice touch for Canada to have a reception to welcome the new JETs to Japan and tell us about their services for Canadians in Japan. At the reception, they served egg salad and tuna sandwhiches along with some Molsons' for our refreshment. For a lot of the Canadian JETs, it was also a good opportunity to exchange e-mail addresses as tomorrow we were all leaving the hotel at separate times. I also got to meet one girl who is currently in a town next to mine in Wakayama. She is about ten minutes away from me and is in Tokyo for her summer vacation.

Afterwards, I finally got the chance to meet up with my friend Junko from UBC who is now living in Shinjuku. It has been at least 2 years since I saw her last and it was wonderful to see her familiar face and hear her stories from the last couple of years. We couldn't catch up in one night so we will make sure to visit one another and keep in touch throughout my time in Japan. After saying goodbye to Junko, I went back to my room and hung out with my roommates exchanging stories about our nights out in Toyko
